Rittal’s CW 120 processes copper bars for switchgears

October 10, 2018 | By Peter Saunders

October 10, 2018 – Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) in Mississauga, Ont., has introduced several machines for processing support rails, cable ducts and busbars, as a complement to semi-automated production in switchgear manufacturing.

Copper bars used in switchgears for power distribution or as busbars must be cut to length, bent and/or hole-punched. The Copper Workstation (CW) 120 is available in two models: a stationary benchtop unit with an external hydraulic supply; and a mobile version with casters and an integrated hydraulic pump.

A single 230-V mains connection is required for electrical supply. Both versions can process rails at a width up to 120 mm and thickness up to 12 mm. Round holes can be punched at sizes from 6.6 to 21.5 mm, along with slots up to 21 mm wide and 18 mm long. The stamps and dies for both round holes and slots are available as accessories in different sizes.
