Support Ontario Youth celebrates major milestone: 500 apprenticeship registrations

January 3, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun

January 3, 2024 – Support Ontario Youth (SOY)—an industry- and government-supported apprentice sponsor group—announced the official registration of 500 apprentices. Congratulations!

“Our government is proud to invest in organizations like Support Ontario Youth as they continue inspiring young people across our province to explore careers in the skilled trades, and helping Ontario reach a historic number of apprenticeship registrations,” said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.

SOY is a registered charity that works with apprentices, employers, and industry stakeholders to identify gaps in apprenticeship learning and training, “and help those directly involved by supporting, mentoring, and guiding their efforts to help streamline and modernize the trade pathways”.

“What an awesome accomplishment and such amazing growth. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the support of our dedicated team, apprentices, mentors, and partners,” said Melanie Winter, executive director. “Their unwavering support has […] strengthened Ontario’s skilled trades industry as a whole.”
