Apollo is bringing a range of eight new base-mounted flame detectors to the market that are suitable for most land- and marine-based applications. The devices’ Class 1 performance allows them to detect 0.1m2 flames at a distance of 25 m (EN54-10), and can detect all types of flames—including those from a hydrogen source. The devices are available in intelligent and conventional versions that fit into Apollo’s Discovery, XP95 or Series 65 bases. A choice of detection methods is available to suit the application, with single UV, UV/IR2 combined, and IR3 variants. Installation is simple, says Apollo, with a special bracket and integral deckhead mounting box. Applications include aircraft hangars, recycling centres, manufacturing and chemical production plants, ships’ engine rooms, fuel-handling areas and power generation facilities.
