August 24, 2023 | By Anthony Capkun

August 24, 2023 – Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade reports CES Transformers is investing $4 million to expand its existing facility in Markham, upgrade equipment, and train additional staff.

According to its website, CES manufacturers a range of transformers, up to 15 MVA, 72kV, 350 BIL.

The province is providing CES with nearly $610,000 in funding through the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of its Regional Development Program.

“Choosing to invest back into Ontario was important to CES Transformers. The AMIC grant from the Government of Ontario has allowed us to focus on taking on a larger role in supporting the demand of the electrical grid,” said Chris Espielithies, president. “We are proud of our role in supporting infrastructure growth throughout our communities and cities.”

The government launched the Regional Development Program for eastern and southwestern Ontario to provide businesses and municipalities with financial support “and guided access to a range of complementary services and supports”.

The AMIC stream of the Regional Development Program helps Ontario’s advanced manufacturers invest in equipment, technologies, and skilled workers.

Applications for the latest round of AMIC are open until September 14, 2023.
