CHA acquires Gryphon International Engineering of St. Catharines

November 4, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun

November 4, 2011 – CHA Consulting has signed a definitive share purchase agreement with Gryphon International Engineering Inc. (a power and energy engineering firm headquartered in St. Catharines, Ont.), under which CHA has acquired Gryphon for an undisclosed sum.

“The acquisition of Gryphon supports CHA’s strategic initiatives, particularly our desire to grow in the power generation and energy sectors,” said Raymond J. Kinley Jr., CHA president.

Under the purchase agreement, Gryphon will become a wholly owned subsidiary of CHA. Gryphon’s name will change to “Gryphon International Engineering Services Inc., a CHA Company”. Gryphon will retain its brand and logo.

CHA says Gryphon’s clients now gain access to CHA’s full range of services; meantime, CHA’s clients now have access to Gryphon’s staff, which will bolster CHA’s power and energy capabilities, particularly as they relate to thermal and renewable generation, and district energy projects.

Founded in 1990, Gryphon is a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm dedicated to the thermal power and energy industry. Its areas of expertise include thermal power generation, boilers and steam plants, district energy systems, instrumentation and controls, electric transmission and distribution systems, and substations.

CHA and Gryphon have worked together under the “CHA Power Team” brand.  The two firms have worked (or are currently working) on projects at the University of Massachusetts, Albany Medical Center, Cornell University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
