Child safety outlet website launches

April 26, 2009 | By Anthony Capkun

Sponsored by the Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Association of Canada (EEMAC), four electrical industry players have come together to launch a website in direct response to concerns over electrical receptacle-related injury.

The Child Safety Outlet website brings awareness to the vast
information available on tamper-resistant receptacles and child safety.
It is interactive and user-friendly, providing customers with
information on products, code requirements, safety education and
statistics through the form of presentations and videos. Canadian
consumers now also have the ability to monitor the province-by-province
adoption dates with an interactive map (see photo).

The manufacturers involved with the Child Safety Outlet project are:
Cooper Wiring Devices, Hubbell Canada LP, Leviton Manufacturing Co.
Ltd., and Pass & Seymour/Legrand.

“The website will also provide a central place for contractors to stay
abreast of important developments on codes and standards, which have a
direct effect on the safety of the public,” said Wayne Edwards,
vice-president of EEMAC.
