March 20, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Cooper Power Systems and CGI Group Inc. have partnered to deliver “active distribution management solutions” to support electric utilities’ deployment of smart grid projects. The two companies have a history of working together, having deployed an advanced distribution management system for Hydro Quebec.

Smart grid advanced distribution management systems integrate
distributed monitoring and intelligence over different types of
communications networks to proactively monitor, alarm and automate the
electrical grid.

“Together with CGI we now offer an integrated energy network solution
with extensive enterprise integration and utility operations expertise,”
said Tom Pitstick, vice-president and general manager of the Energy
Automation Solutions division at Cooper Power Systems.

“CGI’s PragmaSMART portfolio of mission-critical solutions and systems
integration expertise complements the broad spectrum of Cooper Power
Systems smart grid innovations to assist both our new and existing
clients with the challenge of increasing productivity and reducing
operational costs while improving reliable power supply,” said André
Bouchard, vice-president of CGI’s Utility Solutions and Services sector.
