April 3, 2019 – Eaton has introduced to the Canadian market a line of colour-coded Arrow Hart locking devices for use in commercial and industrial applications, to make it easier for electrical contractors to identify circuit ratings.

Reportedly the first of their kind in the industry, the locking devices display the six voltage rating colours from the IEC 60309 standard for plugs, socket-outlets and couplers. Instead of manually double-checking voltage ratings, contractors can simply match the colours before connecting.

“Locking devices are available in a wide variety of configurations and voltage ratings,” says Brian Goenic, Eaton’s product manager for wiring devices. “Due to this huge variety, matching them up in the field is a cumbersome process for contractors. By adding this small but significant change, we are making them far easier to use.”

The devices are available in standard NEMA configurations for 20-A and 30-A applications. Like other Arrow Hart products, they feature an alignment indicator to help orient the plug and connector during installation, a double dovetail cord grip for wire retention and durably printed circuit ratings.
