Eaton redesigns mounting brackets BB2-16T and BB2-24T for 2016

January 15, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

January 15, 2016 – Eaton says it has redesigned its largest and most popular B-Line series mounting bracket sets and they’re now available in the Canadian market. The newest BB2-16T and BB2-24T brackets feature a telescoping design which Eaton says allows for varying stud wall spacing.

The BB2-16T and BB2-24T are made of pre-galvanized steel and designed with a centre channel that adds rigidity for strength, Eaton says.

Using these brackets, contractors have the ability to mount electrical and data boxes up to four different box depths. The end flanges will bend the same as the existing design for 1 1/2-in. deep and 2 1/8-in. deep boxes. They can also be cut and bent to enable mounting of deeper boxes—such as multi-gang (2 1/2-in. deep) or 5-in. square (2 13/16-in. deep) boxes—or other field modifications.

These brackets can be mounted to the studs with two screws instead of the prior industry standard of four, Eaton adds.

The products are UL-listed for Canada and support most standard boxes, Eaton says, with plaster rings measuring 4-in. square, 4-11/16-in. square, 5-in. square, and multi-gang electrical boxes with plaster rings.
