Electrical utilities standard ANSI C119.4 revised for performance requirements

November 14, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

November 14, 2016 – The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced revisions to ANSI C119.4 (the standard for electric connectors—connectors for use between aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-copper conductors designed for normal operation at or below 93°C and copper-to-copper conductors designed for normal operation at or below 100°C), as made by the ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C119.

This standard for the electric utilities industry covers devices used to make electrical connections between aluminum-to-aluminum, aluminum-to-copper and copper-to-copper conductors on distribution and transmission lines. It also establishes electrical and mechanical test requirements for electrical connectors.
Revisions include extensive editorial changes and the addition of one optional set of performances requirements: Shunt Class Connector Devices (Annex E).

ANSI C119.4-2016 is available in hard copy or as an electronic download on the NEMA website.
