June 16, 2014 – GE’s Digital Energy business has unveiled the Grid Explorer 2.0 platform, an interactive suite of digital visualization tools, which it says will transform how utilities explore, deploy and maintain their modern electric grids.

Powered by a gaming engine, the platform allows users to immerse themselves in a virtual 3D power system and simulate various grid challenges (such as unplanned outages, asset management, etc.) and see their effects on grid efficiency and reliability. Once a specific solution is identified, customers can peel away and look inside the equipment for a unique view into how the solution works.
