May 8, 2018 – Omron Automation Americas recently gifted Georgian College engineering technology students “with workforce-relevant technology”, and the college recognized its  partner of over 20 years by naming one of its technology labs in honour of Omron.

“We are proud to be partners with Georgian College, helping students to engage in hands-on learning of automation solutions,” said Peter Brouwer, general manager, Omron Canada. “The latest technologies in motion control, machine safety, HMI, vision, sensors and control components are available, and can be tested together in a learning environment that simulates integrated interactions of total machine automation.”

The company says it is also donating software and providing training to faculty so they can enhance their skills on—and knowledge of—the new equipment.

Students will be able to put their knowledge into practice by using a new set of PLCs to simulate assembly line production in one of the college’s electrical labs.

“Employers who hire graduates from our electrical and mechanical programs are highly satisfied with our graduates’ job-related knowledge and skills,” said Bill Angelakos, Dean, Technology and Visual Arts. “We are grateful to partners like Omron Canada who help us deliver relevant curriculum using the very latest in technology.”
