Industry steps up with solutions for stranded Enel X Way (JuiceBox) EV charger customers
October 16, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun

October 16, 2024* – At the start of the month, we informed you of Enel X Way North America’s decision to close its electric mobility business in the U.S. and Canada, effective October 11, 2024.
Since publishing the news, several industry players have reached out to tell us how they are able to help stranded EV charger owners:
ELECTRIC AVENUE (Nova Scotia)
For a limited time, Electric Avenue says it will provide a free Watti Pro Lite 48A EV charger to every Enel X Way commercial customer wishing to replace an orphaned Level 2 charger.
“Our open-source Watti Pro Lite charger is the ideal replacement, ensuring that commercial customers remain connected and fully operational,” said Electric Avenue president Mark MacDonald.
Valued at $1599.98 CAD, the replacement charger features Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) technology, an 18-ft cable, and Wi-Fi/LAN connectivity. Terms and conditions apply.
TRIDENS TECHNOLOGY (Slovenia)
Chief marketing officer Žiga Lesjak contacted us to say that all JuiceBox owners can migrate to Tridens Technology’s web app for free.
“Since you’re looking for an Enel X Way alternative, we offer a hardware-agnostic software platform for managing your EV charger,” writes Žiga in a company blog post, explaining that migrating to Tridens EV Charge offers site hosts the chance to continue offering charging operations.
LIBERTY PLUGINS (California)
For commercial operators, Liberty Plugins offers the Liberty Access Platform: an OCPP-compliant charge station management system that is compatible with Enel X Way’s system. Liberty is offering former Enel X Way commercial customers the first 90 days of service at no charge. Terms and conditions apply.
CHARGELAB (Ontario)
ChargeLab is a hardware-agnostic software platform for managing electric vehicle chargers. Its OCPP back office works with over 100 EV charger models from manufacturers such as ABB, Eaton, EVBox, Lite-On, Wallbox, Zerova, etc.
After first announcing it would help migrate commercial Enel X Way devices to its own back-end, ChargeLab now says it has successfully migrated dozens of Enel X Way commercial chargers to its network.
