Manitoba Hydro seeks new president & CEO “for a fresh perspective”
February 14, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun
February 14, 2024 – Following an internal leadership analysis shortly after it was appointed, the board of Manitoba Hydro-Electric “decided it was time for a fresh perspective” on decisions for “how best to meet Manitoba’s energy needs in the future”.
According to Manitoba Hydro-Electric board chair Ben Graham, the leadership analysis looked at how Manitoba Hydro’s leadership aligns with the board’s mandate, which includes:
• keeping rates low
• collaborating with Indigenous communities
• supporting its workers
• sharing a commitment to Manitoba’s economic development
• keeping the utility public
To that end, Jay Grewal, president & CEO of Manitoba Hydro, is leaving the organization.
“One of the board’s most important responsibilities is to ensure we have the leadership in place to successfully guide Manitoba Hydro into the future and keep life affordable for Manitobans,” said Graham.
Hal Turner, vice-president, Asset Planning & Delivery, is now serving as interim president & CEO.
The board will begin a comprehensive internal and external search for a new president & CEO immediately.
