Northland Power clears the way for Mont Louis wind farm

July 14, 2010 | By

Northland Power Income Fund announced that it started site clearing for a new wind farm to be located in the Gaspésie region of Quebec near Mont Louis (about 150km east of Matane).

The project was awarded a contract in 2004 to Hydro-Quebec under a
20-year Power Purchase Agreement and is expected to see 67 GE 1.5sle
wind turbines from GE Canada. Its total cost is “expected to be $176
million, or $146 million net after reimbursement of substation and
interconnection costs by Hydro-Quebec,” says the release. Northland
hopes to raise approximately $120 million of debt financing for the
project. The financial close is expected in September 2010.
