AltaLink is Canada’s only fully independent transmission company, responsible for the maintenance and operation of approximately 11,600 kilometres of transmission lines and 260 substations in Alberta.

An opportunity exists for a:

Protection & Control Technologist (Full-Time)

with the Transmission Field
Operations team in the Acheson Work centre.

This position
will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the operation
and maintenance of AltaLink’s transmission system and associated
facilities in Alberta.

The successful candidate will be
expected to reside in the greater Edmonton vicinity.

Responsibilities
• Operate, inspect and maintain
substation equipment associated with the AltaLink transmission system.
• Provide
maintenance planning, schedulers and AltaLink Control Centre staff with
information regarding equipment status, and recommend improvements or
replacements.
• Trouble response for Protection
& Control equipment in the area.
• Assist and support other
disciplines as required.

Qualifications
• The
successful candidate must have an Electrical Engineering Technology
Diploma from a recognized technical school.
• Must have the
ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5
driver’s license.
• Be competent and comfortable
working with computers and spreadsheets.
• Willing to develop skills and a
career in the Protection & Control Technologist discipline.
• Dedicated
team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Demonstrated
problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within
strict deadlines.
• Demonstrate a willingness to work
safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in
the workplace.
• Willing to accept out-of-town
working conditions.
