Sanya Skypump electric-vehicle charging station equipped with wind and solar power

October 26, 2011 | By Alyssa Dalton

October 26, 2011 – Urban Green Energy (UGE) and GE have introduced the Sanya Skypump, an electric vehicle (EV) charging station that brings together the technology of GE’s WattStation and UGE’s Sanya hybrid wind/solar streetlamp. According to the companies, the Skypump will allow owners of electric vehicles to charge their cars from a renewable energy source. The charging station uses a UGE-4K wind turbine along with solar panels to offset a significant amount of the usage of a commercial charging site, adds UGE. A worldwide rollout is slated for early 2012.
