April 15, 2013 – Irwin Tools says its full line of multi-material drill bits will drill through just about any type of material, including brick, block, tile, metal, wood, laminate, plastic and marble, saving you the hassle of toting different types of bits for different drilling tasks. They will even drill through multiple materials at the same time, insists Irwin. The bits have a diamond-ground, four-facet carbide tip with sharp cutting edges that guarantee centred starts, says the company, with no walking, fast drilling and good hole quality. They have a double-milled flute that removes dust and debris efficiently, adds Irwin, which increases drilling speed and bit life. The multi-material bits are designed specifically for rotary drilling, but can also be used with hammer drills. They are compatible with all standard 1/2-in. and 3/8-in. chuck drills, and are available in 3-in. to 5-in. jobber lengths, and 16-in. extended length, with diameters ranging from 1/8 in. to 1/2 in.
