Surinder Kumar, chair and CEO of Vecima Networks Inc., announced the appointment of Richard Funnell to senior vice-president, corporate development, and the promotion of Sumit Kumar to executive vice-president.
Funnell brings more than 20 years of high-tech management experience to
his new role. He’s also held a number of senior executive roles in a
variety of technology companies, including the Datastream Division of
Xyratex and Network Associates (part of McAfee). Funnell holds an
Electrical Engineering degree—specializing in communications—from
McGill University (Montreal, Que.).
In his new role, Kumar will help develop, manage and execute the
overall strategy for the company. He possesses technical and executive
experience with the company, having worked in the R&D department on
the architecture and development of EdgeQAM and WiMax products, as well
as within the business development and senior management groups since
joining Vecima in 1995. Kumar holds Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science degrees from the University of Saskatchewan.
