January 15, 2018 — The government is investing $450,000 in NB Power’s eCharge Network, which will increase the number of electric vehicle charging stations in New Brunswick from 10 to 19.

MP for Acadie-Bathurst Serge Cormier made the announcement on behalf of Jim Carr, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources.

MP Cormier also announced an additional $197,500 from the federal gas tax fund, bringing the federal investment to $647,000. Altogether, federal contribution to the EV charging station network in New Brunswick stands at $1,147,000.

“We are very proud to spearhead the first in Canada. By having a network of fast chargers throughout our province, it will give electric vehicle owners the peace of mind they need when they are travelling from one point to another. It will reduce range anxiety,” said Gaëten Thomas, president and CEO, NB Power.
