VIDEO: Heads up for CSA’s F900 Solar PV Rooftop Installation Best Practices

April 16, 2012 | By Anthony Capkun

Stephen Brown, electrotechnical director at CSA Standards, tells us about the upcoming CSA F900, “Solar PV Rooftop Installation Best Practices”. The intended audience for CSA F900 includes PV system designers, installers, owners, insurers, project financiers, local building officials, first responders and consumers.

The guideline will address how the user may overcome various PV installation risks in the rooftop environment, such as structural failure of the building itself, structural failure of PV racking, water penetration of the roofing system, flammability of the racking materials, climbing hazards, avalanche hazards, and access and maintenance-related risks. CSA F900 is scheduled for public review Spring 2012.
