January 3, 2024 – Electrical Cable Supply (Richmond, B.C.) is contributing a range of electronic and Cat 5e wire and cables to the UBC Solar project “Brightside”.

Comprising 80 undergraduate members, UBC Solar is a student engineering design team at the University of British Columbia. Project Brightside involves both designing and racing a solar-powered car.

“We believe in empowering the next generation of engineers and innovators to push the boundaries of what is possible,” said Angie Schwan, ECS branch manager. “ECS is proud to support UBC Solar in their ambitious Brightside project. We are excited to be a small part of helping to advance education and innovation in solar engineering.”

Brightside is the team’s third-generation solar-powered race car, and is slated to compete at this year’s Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge.
