October 20, 2016 – EBMag has learned Northern Cables (Brockville, Ont.) is launching a power and control cable this week, Type ACIC, for smart buildings.

The cable allows control circuits to be placed in a cable alongside light or power circuits, and is suitable for exposed or concealed wiring in dry locations per CE Code Table 19 (although you should obtain approval from your local AHJ prior to installation). According to Northern, the assembly is rated 90ºC wet or dry, meets cold bend and impact tests at -25ºC and promises excellent crush resistance. The cable is UL certified to CSA C22.2 No. 239-09, Control & Instrumentation Cables.

On some projects, this cable eliminates the need to run a parallel line for LED lighting and control circuits, explains Northern.
