The Z-Wave Alliance announced that Z-Wave—a standard in wireless home control—will now interface with Control4, a player in IP-based home control and entertainment systems. This development marks a huge milestone for Z-Wave, says the alliance, opening the technology to the more than one million Control4 products on the market.

“Control4’s vision is to be the operating system for the connected
home,” said Eric Smith, CTO for Control4. “A number of Z-Wave Alliance
members have designed a Z-Wave driver for Control4 systems which allows
us to expand our interoperability with additional manufacturers and
ultimately expands the Control4 ecosystem, giving more choices to both
installers and consumers.”

There are more than 300 Z-Wave-certified products on the market today,
which allow homeowners to wirelessly manage and adjust lighting,
thermostats, appliances and home entertainment systems from anywhere in
the world.
