Lutron settles lawsuit against Control4

February 5, 2009 | By Anthony Capkun

Lighting control manufacturer Lutron Electronics Co. Inc. says it has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against Control4 Corp. The lawsuit had been ongoing since May 2006 and contained allegations that Control4 products infringed several Lutron patents covering inventions in the area of radio frequency (RF) communications.

As
part of the settlement, Control4 has executed a license agreement under
these patents and agreed to pay royalties on past and future sales of
its products that use the Lutron inventions.

To date,
several other manufacturers—including Vantage Controls Inc., Leviton
Manufacturing Co. Inc. and Cooper Wiring Devices Inc.—have executed
license agreements with Lutron for these same RF patents.
