Ontario town gives EPCOR green light for InnPower partnership

September 29, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

September 29, 2015 – The Town of Innisfil in Ontario says it has given the go-ahead to negotiate a partnership that will allow EPCOR to purchase a 50% share of its electrical distribution company, InnPower.

Working with EPCOR, the town is looking to apply more entrepreneurial approaches to the management of its assets and services. “This proposed model is unique to Ontario but it’s a proven success in Western Canada,” said Innisfil Mayor Gord Wauchope, who cited the potential for new revenue, new jobs and new investment in Innisfil.

The sale will require regulatory approval from the Ontario Energy Board.

InnPower will continue to serve as the town’s electricity distributor.
