May 31, 2012 | By Anthony Capkun

May 30, 2012 – Electrical inspectors, electrical safety codes officers (Group A & B) and others involved in the electrical industry are invited to attend the annual technical conference of the Electrical Inspectors Association of Alberta (EIAA). The conference aims to promote the uniform enforcement and interpretation of electrical codes, regulations and other issues important to the electrical industry.

Scheduled for February 1-2, 2013, at the Chateau Louis Hotel & Conference Centre (Edmonton), EIAA’s annual technical conference offers you an opportunity to network with experts from many areas of the Canadian electrical industry. Past conferences hosted registrants from other provinces and the States. You will benefit from the experience of those with similar concerns as your own, while sharing your knowledge with others in attendance.

Guest speakers will be invited to share information on new technologies and changes. This is an asset to the electrical safety code officer and others wishing to stay on top of activities in this fast-changing field.

The Electrical Inspector’s Association of Alberta (EIAA) was founded December 4, 1974, by a group of inspectors looking for a way to join with other inspectors outside of their daily work. Many belonged to the provincial, City of Calgary and City of Edmonton inspection organizations.

When the Alberta government privatized inspection work, the provincial group was whittled down to just a few personnel. The municipal inspectors became part of the Accredited Municipalities. The balance of the inspectors became independent or joined Accredited Agencies.

There are currently about 160 personnel directly involved in the electrical inspection industry in Alberta. The majority of these belong to EIAA, sharing a common interest or concern within the electrical industry as it applies to the code and its application.
