March 14, 2014 – Canadian Solar Inc. announced the opening of its Microgrid Testing Centre, which will focus on solution testing, system solution design and smart grid assessment services.

“We thank the Ontario Ministry of Energy for sharing our vision and our effort in making Ontario the centre of renewable energy technology in North America,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, Canadian Solar’s chair and CEO. The centre was partially funded by the Ontario Ministry of Energy, and is located in Guelph, Ont.

First Nations, remote communities and mining projects in Northern Ontario will directly benefit from using the testing centre, added Canadian Solar.
