Caterpillar unveiled its latest genset controller: the EMCP 4. The EMCP 4.1 is the entry-level controller, offering basic engine and generator monitoring and protection. The EMCP 4.2 builds on the features of the EMCP 4.1 controller, offering expanded engine and generator protection and monitoring. Additional generator metering includes kW, kVA and kWh. Flexibility is also increased with the addition of a Modbus RTU communication port, remote annunciator modules and expansion I/O modules to allow the EMCP 4 system to be configured to meet site specific design requirements. Incorporating all of the features of the EMPC 4.2, the EMCP 4.3 further expands the EMCP 4 line with the addition of a large 5.5-in. graphical display and additional context specific navigation keys. The EMCP 4.4 introduces on-package paralleling controls for Cat gensets. Standard on the EMCP 4.4 are all functions typically required for paralleling, which includes load shed/add to automatically cycle load based on the number of gensets online, and load sense/demand to vary the number of gensets online based on the total site load to ensure optimal use of the units.
