CSA Z463 committee concludes milestone meeting last month

April 10, 2012 | By Anthony Capkun

April 9, 2012 – On March 6 and 7, the 4th CSA Z463 Technical Committee meeting was held at CSA’s offices in Toronto. “This meeting marked a milestone in our progress,” writes the committee, “and was well attended by over 30 active participants from across Canada”. Revision 7 of the document will be issued shortly after the meeting to the drafting group with an anticipated Revision 8 to be issued by this same drafting group May 15.

“This is a huge step forward as now, for the first time, we have a comprehensive guideline to work from,” says the committee. “To this point, each working group was concentrating on their specific section in silo, but now all information is in one document. This will allow for each working group—with the aid of the drafting committee—to vet […] any potential duplication and assure a concise and organized review of the extensive subject matter.”

“We are still looking for more regulatory input and, on this basis, would request that anyone who has a position in this area and could assist in the development of this document to please step forward,” pleads the committee. “Even at this point in the development we are quite interested in having some input from this section of industry/government, and believe some very positive mutual benefit can and will be realized from the right candidates”.

The next meeting (#5) is scheduled for Quebec City, Que., June 13 and 14, coinciding with the annual CSA conference, which takes place the entire week. “We are still looking for potential CSA Z463 financial supporters and, as well, someone to assist with the sponsorship of the Quebec City meeting and social event.”
