Eaton unveils residential electric vehicle EV Pow-R-Stations charging stations

September 27, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun

September 26, 2011 – EBMag was there at EV 2011 as Eaton Corp. gave us a sneak preview of its new Level 1 and 2 EV Pow-R-Stations for residential applications (VIDEO to come). The Pow-R-Stations come in a wall-mount or pedestal model, and will fully charge an electric car in 6 to 24 hours, depending on the model. They can be ordered now by the trade through Eaton’s regular distribution channels, or directly by the public from electricians and electrical contractors. To help homeowners locate electricians specializing in electric vehicle charging stations, Eaton Corp. has announced a new EV training program for its Certified Contractor Network Program (ECCN). On October 12, an estimated 50 electricians will earn their ECCN certification for electric vehicles—the first in Canada, says Eaton, to receive this designation. Eaton’s new charging stations are designed to be installed by qualified electricians. The retail price of the appliances (installed) starts at about $2000. (Photo A. Capkun)
