FCI acquires Implo Technologies

January 27, 2009 | By Anthony Capkun

FCI, a manufacturer and provider of connector and tooling solutions to the industrial, telecom and energy industries, has acquired Markham, Ont.-based Implo Technologies Inc., a player in the field of implosive connector products for the utility market. The acquisition, says FCI, will allow it to leverage the technology developed by Implo to complement the products it offers for transmission interconnect applications.

“This
acquisition will make a solid long-term strategic contribution to FCI’s
growing portfolio of quality connection systems with a focus on
high-voltage splicing and connection technology for utility
transmission systems,” said Rodd Ruland, corporate vice-president and
general manager of FCI-Electrical Division (Burndy products).

Ciro
Pasini, Implo founder and president, said he chose to become part of
FCI because the Burndy brand is well recognized and respected, and it
will “improve our ability to meet customer needs and develop new
products while keeping the Implo entrepreneurial spirit and tradition
of excellence in products and services”.
