May 8, 2024 – Hatch—a global engineering, project delivery, and professional services firm—is celebrating 100 years of involvement with hydropower.* Congratulations!

“We are incredibly proud to reach this significant milestone in our journey,” said John Bianchini, CEO. “For 100 years, Hatch and its predecessors have been instrumental in shaping the hydropower industry. We are excited to celebrate our achievements and look forward to a future where sustainable energy continues to play a vital role.”

To commemorate this milestone, Hatch hosted a celebration at the historic Niagara Parks Power Station which, today, serves as “an entertaining and educational experience that highlights both the remarkable history and unique architectural features of this 115-year-old engineering marvel”.

The location for this centennial celebration served to showcase the legacy of hydroelectric power in Niagara Falls while also shedding light on the broader engineering industry, says Hatch.

* Dr. Henry Acres was a hydropower pioneer and founder of engineering consulting company H.G. Acres in 1924. According to Hatch, the Acres company had designed well over 50% of Canada’s hydropower by the early 1970s. Hatch acquired Acres International in 2004; today, its global hydropower centre of excellence is located in Niagara Falls, Ont.
