March 16, 2012 – Hilti has introduced the PD 5 laser range meter, calling it the only tool of its kind which concentrates solely on the fundamental task of measuring distances. According to Hilti, the tool can measure distances up to 230 feet, including difficult-to-access places or heights where alternative measuring methods fail. The tool also comes with a rubber protection surrounding the edges of the meter to help protect against dust and water.
