Hunters beware! OPG could lay trespass charges

December 13, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun

December 13, 2011 – Ontario hunters could face trespass charges if they enter Ontario Power Generation (OPG) property.

“We’ve had a few incidents recently at our Aguasabon and Hayes Lake facilities near Terrace Bay east of Thunder Bay. Hunters ignore or remove barriers and signs and trespass on our property,” said John Murphy, executive vice-president hydro at OPG.

“We had similar issues in 2009 and we need to get the message out that this activity is illegal and dangerous,” he said. “We have staff at these sites and we’re very concerned for their safety. People who are on our property are trespassing, and we’re working closely with the police to protect our employees. This could include trespass charges being laid.”
