Legrand North America has purchased Electrorack Products Co., an American company specializing in cabinets, power and cooling solutions. The acquisition is the latest in a series over the last eight years that, says the company, have helped it increase its revenue and “hit record profitability”.

Legrand aims to expand its position in the commercial data
communications market by enhancing its manufacturing, engineering and
product offerings via the Electrorack acquisition. Legrand says the
demand for cabinets and accessories in data centres, broadcast and
broadband, industrial and military/aerospace/shipboard markets is
expected to expand by 10% a year in the United States alone over the
next few years.

“Electrorack’s well-established position with the largest corporations
in the US and its range’s excellent fit with that of Ortronics will
enable Legrand to accelerate its growth in the buoyant voice, data, and
imaging (VDI) segment in the US,” says the company. “Electrorack will
become a centre of excellence for manufacturing and engineering of
cabinets, cooling and power products, and will drive growth for both
Ortronics and Electrorack product lines through innovation and design.”

Legrand insists the Electrorack management team will remain in place,
and report directly to Mark Panico, president of the Data Communications
division of Legrand, North America.
