GE’s Current designs LED lamp as HID replacement

November 6, 2018 | By Peter Saunders

November 6, 2018 – Current, part of General Electric (GE), has designed a new LED luminaire to replace indoor and outdoor 1,000-W high intensity discharge (HID) lamps.

The product fits into existing HID fixtures, which are still common at many industrial facilities, but reportedly uses 60% less energy. It is wired to bypass the HID ballast, thus eliminating the need for future ballast replacements.

GE claims the lamp has the potential to save millions of dollars and remove hazardous materials. More information is available from authorized dealers.
