Magna lands WorkSafe Saskatchewan 2010 Safe Employer Award

May 11, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Magna Electric Corp. has been awarded the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board’s WorkSafe Saskatchewan 2010 Safe Employer Award. In 2009, Magna achieved 226,915 hours without any incidents and has operated safely in Saskatchewan for over 20 years with no time loss injuries.
“For MEC, safety is not negotiable,” said Kerry Heid, Magna’s president.
“It is dedicated people in the workplace who are at the heart of our Mission: Zero campaign,” said WCB chair, David Eberle. “It is employers and employees like this—people who embrace and practise safety and prevention with zeal—who make Mission: Zero a reality every day.”
Peers and colleagues in the workplace nominate the recipients, and nominations are then adjudicated by a WorkSafe Saskatchewan committee. The award was presented at the annual Compensation Institute Luncheon.
