Ontario College of Trades releases Schedule and Process for apprenticeship ratio reviews
February 15, 2012 | By Anthony Capkun
UPDATED – February 15, 2012 – The Ontario College of Trades says it will begin the review of apprenticeship ratios shortly, as it is mandated to do so every four years under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009.
“These reviews signal the college’s commitment to its potential members and stakeholders, and the intention to solicit their feedback and hear their voices on issues that impact their practices and businesses across the province,” says the college, adding that “the open and transparent review of these ratios is an important step in promoting fairness and safety in the workplace”.
A schedule for the reviews is available on the college’s website. The schedule is divided into four groupings (Groups A, B, C, D) and divided further into 21 groups of the individual trades. Noted beside each trade is the current apprenticeship ratio. Along with the review schedule, a chart outlining the process that each of these reviews will follow is also available on the website.
