PRODUCT RECALL – Canadian Tire recalls Mastercraft digital clamp meter 52-0163

January 4, 2012 – The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is notifying the public that Canadian Tire has announced a voluntary recall of the Mastercraft digital clamp meter, 52-0163. Consumers are advised to stop using recalled products immediately.

Hazard: Canadian Tire is recalling the Mastercraft digital clamp meter, 52-0163, as a precautionary safety measure due to improper wiring within the product on some units which could lead to an inaccurate reading. At this time, Canadian Tire has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these affected meters.

Approximately 21,573 units were sold in Canada. The units were manufactured in China by Colluck Company Ltd. The recalled products were sold from October 2007 to October 2011.

Consumers are asked to contact the Mastercraft hotline at 1-800-689-9928 to verify whether their product is affected by this recall. If consumers have an affected product, they should discontinue using the digital clamp meter and return it to any Canadian Tire store for a refund.
