April 20, 2017 – Bosch Solar Services is replacing all roof-mounted Bosch c-Si 60 NA30119 solar modules currently installed in Canada and the U.S. as part of a voluntary recall.

The company observed a small number of these modules had what appeared to be heat marks near some solder joints (where electrical contacts to the solder had degraded). Were the heat great enough—and were the mounting structure or embedding material flammable—a fire would be possible.

However, no such fires have been reported.

This recall involves about 28,000 units that were manufactured in South Korea, and sold from October 2011 through May 2013 for about $300 US.

Bosch recommends checking your installed solar panels to determine whether c-Si M 60 NA30119s were used. Each panel contains 60 cells, arranged in 10 rows of 6, and each cell is marked with the Bosch brand. The frame surface of the panel is smooth.

Each module measures about 65 x 39 x 1.65 in., and weighs just less than 42 lb. The solar cells are housed in a glass-foil laminate framed by an anodized aluminum profile. The output power of the panel is 245W peak.
