Siemens offers all-in-one fire safety with Sinorix Compact

September 10, 2013 | By Anthony Capkun

September 10, 2013 – With Sinorix Compact, Siemens’ Building Technologies division says it offers a complete fire safety system for enclosures with a volume of up to 120 m3, such as small data centres, server or electrical switching rooms.

The solution combines all fire safety disciplines—detection, alarming and control to extinguishing—in a single cabinet. The main components include an aspirating smoke detector, the Sinorix Silent Nozzle and the Novec 1230 fluid (a 3M chemical extinguishing agent). The integrated FDA221 aspirating smoke detector continuously draws air samples from the room and tests them for smoke particles. In case of fire, the nozzle distributes the extinguishing agent evenly, says Siemens, and quietly into the protected area. Novec 1230 is non-conductive and non-corrosive, making it ideal for extinguishing fires in rooms filled with electrical and electronic equipment, and safe for both people and the environment.

These components are controlled and monitored by the integrated XC10 fire detection and extinguishing control panel. Based on EN standards, Sinorix Compact also sports a flashing alarm light and an alarm device to warn anyone in the room. All components are delivered pre-installed and pre-wired in a cabinet that resembles a server rack.
