Siemens offers Simotics DP motors for steel plants

November 23, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

November 23, 2014 – Siemens says it has developed industry-specific motors for steel plants, which are based on the Simotics 1LE1 platform.

The ventilated motors are specially designed to meet the high demands in terms of vibrations and shocks (Class 3M4). Versions of these new motors are optimized for use with converters of the Sinamics S120 series and, as integrated drive systems, promise to contribute to reliable and efficient operation. In network operation, the IE3 efficiency class promises high energy savings. The motors are suitable for processes such as transport e.g. reheating furnace and cooling bed, on beam rolling mills or run-out tables. They are available in 4- and 6-pole designs with shaft heights from 112-mm to 280-mm and in the torque range from 20 Nm to 578 Nm.
