Skilled trade champs selected for WorldSkills Team Canada 2024

July 26, 2023 – Skills/Compétences Canada announced the 28 members of WorldSkills Team Canada, who will begin preparing for the 47th WorldSkills Competition being held in Lyon, France, September 10-15, 2024.

“We are very proud of all these competitors, and we look forward to seeing them compete at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, as they strive to earn a place on the podium at this prestigious international event,” said Shaun Thorson, SCC’s CEO. “These talented trade and technology champions represent our country’s future skilled workforce.”

Representing Electrical (and related disciplines) are:

• Gaspard Goupil, Quebec – Electrical Installations
• Zachary Van Boeyen, British Columbia – Industrial Control
• Félix Bergeron, Quebec – Industrial Mechanics (Millwright)
• Paxton Coghlin, Ontario – Mechatronics
• Dillon Kong, Ontario – Mechatronics

Following the 2023 Skills Canada National Competition held in Winnipeg, the highest-ranking, age-eligible participant in each identified Skill Area was selected to participate in the next WorldSkills Competition.

At WorldSkills Lyon 2024, roughly 1500 competitors from more than 60 member countries and regions will compete in over 60 Skill Areas for the title of world champion in their respective trade or technology.
