WARNING: Zhejiang Shengyang communications cable potentially hazardous (15PN-03)

March 16, 2015 – UL has issued a warning that a communications cable type CMR, Cat 5e sold on Amazon.com may be potentially hazardous as it does not comply with UL’s safety standards and are not authorized to bear the UL Mark for the United States or Canada.

Specifically, the cable does not meet the flammability requirements of the standard, which may cause an increased risk of fire, said UL.

The cable was manufactured by China’s Zhejiang Shengyang Science & Technology. It was sold online at amazon.com but may also have been sold at other locations.
