Caterpillar G3500H genset pipeline natural gas-friendly

November 26, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

November 26, 2014 – Caterpillar’s new G3520H genset is the second in the H-Series available for operation on natural gas fuel, and is currently offered at 2500kWe power output at 50Hz and 60Hz.

The G3520H was developed for extended-duty combined heat and power (CHP) and continuous electric power applications in applications ranging from hospitals and data centres to manufacturing plants and greenhouses. Product developments such as cuffed cylinder liners, updated valve stem sealing and increased valve train lubrication minimize the number of maintenance events, says Caterpillar, and reduce oil consumption over previous levels. Additionally, the new model features an open combustion chamber design, which allows use of a low-pressure fuel system that aims to maximize performance on pipeline natural gas. The major overhaul period of the G3520H is 80,000 hours with an in-frame maintenance interval at 40,000 hours.
