January 4, 2016 – The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) has appointed Scott Thon, president and CEO of AltaLink, as chair of the association.

Thon has held senior positions in the Canadian electricity industry for over 30 years, and has served as AltaLink’s president and CEO since 2002, CEA said. He has also served on the CEA’s board of directors since 2004 and is a director on the board of Alberta Blue Cross. He is a past chair of the Bow Valley College board of governors, the United Way of Calgary and serves as a member of the Canadian Athletic Foundation board of trustees.

“I welcome Scott as the new chair. I know his long experience in the electricity sector, and his tenure on the board will ensure solid continuity”, said Sergio Marchi, CEA president and CEO. “At the same time, we would like to extend a special thanks to outgoing Chair Anthony Haines, CEO of Toronto Hydro, for the 3 years of exceptional work at the helm of the CEA board of directors.”
