February 7, 2024 – EngWorks, a Canadian player in explosion safety training, has partnered with Northern Alberta Institute of Technology to deliver its “Hazardous locations fundamentals” course through NAIT’s Continuing Education Program.

“This partnership with NAIT marks a significant milestone in explosion safety education in Canada,” said Susanne Cardwell, EngWorks. “We are thrilled to offer a course that not only addresses current industry needs, but also underscores our commitment to enhancing explosion safety in facilities that handle flammable gas/liquids and combustible dust products.”

Designed for a diverse audience—which could include electricians, electrical engineers, safety officers, and inspectors—the course (delivery: remote, independent) offers insights into the complexities of hazardous locations.

The Hazardous Locations Fundamentals course, offered in partnership with EngWorks, will provide students with a solid foundation for designing, selecting, installing, troubleshooting, and inspecting electrical equipment for use in hazardous locations. Based on Canadian Electrical Code requirements, this course will cover the various explosion protection concepts, intrinsic safety, and the use of gas detection for equipment protection. Wiring and sealing methods are also discussed in the context of the new 2021 Canadian Electrical Code.
