Exfo Inc. launched the SyncWatch-110 synchronization testing unit, a test and monitoring solution for next-generation synchronization technologies, including performance assessment of synchronous ethernet (SyncE) and Precision Time protocol (IEEE 1588v2). As mobile backhaul networks evolve to support packet-based transmission, maintaining accurate synchronization becomes critical to network performance, says Exfo;. if left unchecked, synchronization errors can cause a loss of data, reduced network capacity and dropped calls. The SyncWatch-110’s software engine is capable of analyzing the IEEE 1588v2 timing packets and reporting on a number of packet metrics. It also supports different modes of operation for testing that is adapted to service-provider applications, allowing users to leverage it for the entire network lifecycle.
