R. Stahl IS1+ remote I/O system for hazardous locations

August 18, 2020 | By Anthony Capkun

August 18, 2020 – R. Stahl’s latest remote I/O system, the IS1+, provides a digitalization platform for bi-directional signal transmission from Class I Division 1 hazardous locations, packaged in a IP66/NEMA 4X enclosure. Designed to be backward compatible, the IS1+ is equipped with functions for predictive diagnostics, IP communication and redundancy options.

It is ideal, says the company, for migrating existing conventional installations to digital, ethernet-based environments without complex adaptations. Thanks to a variety of protection types, flexible, secure communication channels up to Class I Division 1 are available for fieldbus networking, FO, ethernet and Wi-Fi communication.

For Class I Division 2 and Zone 2 applications, R. Stahl’s IS1+ open protocol solutions are designed to “ease the burden of supporting multiple protocols” encountered by local systems integrators. Its modular design and flexibility enables integrators (in most cases) to configure the solution in the field for a variety of protocols and signal types.
